@Thank you @beleza. Yes, I would have to agree. At some point in the process, a painting takes on a life of its own. For me personally, this portrait also represents my own journey through recovery and healing too because this man gave me back what I had lost which was the coordination of my arms. I was still trying to rebuild my strength at the time I painted this, and it was exhausting. When my arms and back got tired, I would lay on my back on the floor for a couple hours to rest, and then get up and paint a few more hours. I could not have done this without him and the surgery he did for me, and his kindness opened the door.
