He has had covid last December but has had both shots. Can you give information on what you thing he needs to do or his drs need to do. Your hospital helped my dad years ago. Please give feedback

I had a positive PCR with all other tests showing normal flora and normal white blood count. The GI said if the PCR is positive we give Vancomycin for 10 days. I’m on it and hoping to do well. My issue is with the indecisiveness of my primary care physician to treat it. We waited a whole week until I went to GI and they were firm. Yes, I have that odor. I would like recommendations on diet. One doctor says BRAT and the GI says no particular diet. It’s frustrating not to be at Mayo Clinic for advice.
I have been living with spasmic diarrhea for years. When I have an attack I take one Immodium & that usually stops the spasms. Sometimes I have to take 2. The gels work better for me. No PR needed.
Important to remember that diarrhea de-hydrates hence we need to drink lots of water. I often use one enveloppe of electrolytes dissolved in water to replace the electrolytes I lost (magnesium sodium etc etc) because of the diarrhea. I believe I have spasmic diarrhea because I have IBS. (Irritable bowel syndrome) best of luck!
I’m on Vancomycin and talked with my gastro. She told that I would take the Vanco for 10 days, stop, and expect it might come back, and then treat it again for 10 days.
@uconn - That’s great that you have a gastroenterologist following you! Hope you get rid of it fast. Good luck!
The only med that helped me after 5 months of CDiff was dificid and a fecal transplant.
Have they tried cholestyramine? My husband started on a full dose and gradually decreased the amount over two weeks. The spasms and diarrhea finally subsided.
