What's your experience with Vertiflex Superion Implant?

Has anyone had the Veriflex Superion implant. I had it and it did not seem to work for me. Would appreciate any one that has information. Thanks

I am glad to see that you finally got relief but it took much longer to heal. Did you exercise or do pt?

My husband Is turning 80 this year and he is sharper and more "with it" than I am. (I am 72) I was politely trying to see if you were on medicare because they pay for the first vertiflex. This evening I have been on FaceBook Spinal Stenosis Support Groups. I am waiting to hear from some of them. Yes, I had it done mid-Feb. The reason I think this procedure is not done in the hospital is because it is considered a non-evasive surgery and usually done without being put out completely. Therefore it can be done in clinics. My surgeon did not want to do another surgery on me so recommended a pain doctor in my town. I live in New Mexico. The pain doctor and the surgeon had a consultation and thought it was a good choice for me. Gabapentin does not really help me much for pain but it does help to put me out at night. Nowadays it is really hard to get good pain relievers due to all the new regulations. Right now I think I might have gotten 50% relief. But I think this will not help you as much. I am not in as much pain as you......I was about 6 years ago but I have had 2 surgeries since then. My personal opinion is to go to a surgeon and get an MRI scheduled if you have not done that yet. Ice bags (the gel kind) really help. In my research tonight I found most people's surgeons do not recommend the vertiflex implant. I will keep you posted the more I find out and let you know of my improvements if any. I do want to thank you for your nursing career. I am impressed. Nurses are angels I am sure!

Surgeons make huge $$ with their surgeries. Surgeons would make very little with this procedure. This might influence their opinions. I would like to know

Ok....I put in a call to Boston Scientific waiting for a reply. Here are my thoughts. Stenosis is the formation of bony material that interferes with the opening where the nerves go through, so I am thinking, that if the Vertiflex opens up this area more, this will allow for more bony growth, then if the Vertiflex needs removal the pinch to the nerve with the now extra bony growth would cause intractable pain. I am waiting for a call back from the rep. I will see what he says about this theory. I want to speak with someone who has had the Vertiflex implanted for 2 or 3 years and then have had it removed and I want to see if their pain was significant. I wish some doctor would address my concerns honestly.

While you are at it, ask which doctor in your area has done the most of these implants and for how long. The doctor who recommended the procedure to me had done it only twice. No way!

Am looking at the HF10
I would like to know if any issues after the trial and then if the real thing has to
Be removed. Know they talk about modifying the spine to get the plates attached. What if the thing does not help and it has to be removed
What sort of problems can I expect

I went to the doctor the other day and am reporting as promised the outcome. As I said getting up in the morning has improved, It used to be a nightmare pulling myself together. I have an appointment to get a facet shot week after next. He claims that sometimes the shots work better after the veriflex procedure. I am still taking Advil in the morning, as that is my greatest help getting started in the a.m. By the way, I still have three more weeks to heal my back. It says not to bend or twist for six. My back still hurts somewhat. I thought maybe it would help my numb foot, but it did not work for that. As I said I am going to a foot specialist this coming Tuesday. For whatever reason, he only put one implant. I did not know that they put more in. I hope I answered your questions best as I can. Feel free to contact me and give me information as well. I don't know anyone that did this. Thanx

Hello-I had the Vertiflex implant procedure on May 28th. 9 weeks later I had the best pain free week in 15 years. It took a full 8 weeks before I felt comfortable. I'm now at 13 weeks and so far, so good with very slight pain. My right leg still goes dead occassionally and I have to sit for 60 seconds or so. I see the doc in early Oct and I'll need to confront the dead leg issue.

I was so happy to hear about the Vertiflex implant procedure. I have tried just about everything to help with the pain but I am not a candidate because I have had a fusion (a failed fusion). Thank you for letting us know about the procedure & best of luck to you.
