@margehouser7gmailcom, @ospreysurf and @howardm -- I thought I would share some information about the Theragun for other members who may have read your posts and might also want to know a little more about the product and it's uses.
Theragun review: Pros and cons - Medical News Today: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/theragun-review
I use a percussive massager (not Theragun, but similar) with great results. My primary issue is numbness in the right foot, with periodic pain ( tingling, electrical shocks, pain in the ball of the foot, and some other non-PN issues). It has been very helpful - not a cure, but it eases the numbness for a few hours. And it feels great. I am using it on all of my muscles, and it is great on my back and calf muscles. One of the few PN related things I am glad I bought!
I use one on my husband who does have pain and it helps relax the muscles for a couple of hours and increase blood flow.
I also have PN and would appreciate having more information about your “percussive massager.” Thanks!
Where do I get a percussive massager?
So sorry you are having this terrible pain. I feel for you, wish there was some way I could help.
I use THC and CBD gummies (5 mg is usually enough) in the late afternoon and evening when I have bad pain days. Also helps me sleep at night. We buy them in Michigan when we visit my daughter.
I take a low dose of Gabapentin and use 650 mg arthritis Tylenol morning and afternoon, also 1 at night if necessary. (my rheumatologist says no more than 3 a day). A low dose muscle relaxer also helps (2 mg tizanidine at night). I also also taking hydroxychloroquine for my auto immune Sjögren’s. So all in all, it seems like a lot but it all works together to keep me walking, and helps the neuropathy pain at night. It comes and goes, so have to take it a day at a time.
You may not be interested in my pain, but know we are here for you to talk about it. It helps me to know I can communicate with others who can relate. My husband gets tired of hearing about my aches and pains, but he is very supportive and getting more so as I have more issues crop up.
Try to get some THC! It really helps me, you may not like it, but it’s worth a try. We also used to drive all the way to CO to get it. Perhaps you are in a state that allows medical cannabis, or close enough to a stare with recreational cannabis?
I also have neuropathy but not sure what type. The physiatrist who did my nerve test just said “you have neuropathy” and goodbye. Waiting to talk to my rheumatologist about it.
Everything I read about it says you must treat the underlying condition that caused it (if you know!). So if diabetic, keep your sugar under control. With an auto immune disease, see a rheumatologist and get meds that help slow it down.
I also went gluten-free about 5 years ago, it seems to have helped with the inflammation that makes everything worse. Also I keep my alcohol to 1 glass of wine, no cheating…. Eating right and exercising when you can, all helps. Take care of yourself.
Neuropathy is a terrible disease and really not much can be done but do whatever you can!

What is the reasoning behind percussion therapy? Would it not be to hard on the toes for example?
