Autoimmune gastritis and gastroparesis at higher risk for COVID?

Trying to figure out if my autoimmune gastritis and gastroparesis makes me higher risk of COVID even if vaccinated. Do the vaccines work that well in us? I have been told both. Wondering what all of you have been told. I am sure nobody really knows.
Anyone vaccinated but told to take higher precautions anyway?

At times I do. Right now it is more of an issue with people I know who are vaccinated. They are going maskless and on with their lives. But then they want to spend time with you. I know they been around people every day that were maskless. My fear is they may have been exposed and now want us to visit and all be maskless, share food and play games. Vaccinated people can visit other vaccinated people without masking up. But with my illness and all this stuff about the new variant, and peoples careless behavior, I do not feel it is safe to visit other vaccinated people who been maskless and out in public that way. They totally get upset with me.

@gastrogirl- Hello, it's nice to meet you. I totally agree with Lori that you can't be too over-cautious with covid or its variants. So far as we know, this is the only life we have here on Earth and if people want to be around me but won't heed my wishes of protecting me from them, then they don't get to be with me. It's that simple.

I never hesitate to defend myself against even a simple cold because I have lung cancer and colds wreak havoc on me.

What have you said to those people?

It's been many months since I've received news from this forum. For some reason it quit coming to me. I would like to ask if it is possible that those of us nebulizing umpteen meds will keep our lungs more clear and hopefully Covid will have a hard time invading? I suppose that is just wishful thinking but have read nothing at all concerning this possibility. Would anyone want to respond? Also, I have been wanting to say I have found a nebulizer that delivers much faster than the one Mayo's sold me when I was there. This is a Pari machine. I ordered it from the Pari company (not expensive) machine and hosing, etc, a few dollars less than $100. With my Mayo machine it took me one hour and 45 minutes to go through the five meds I use and with the Pari, it takes 55 minutes. Big Difference.

Hello and welcome back. Connect had an update a few months back. To get back on notifications, click on your picture, choose Profile & Settings, and set how you want to be notified.

As for being protected by all that stuff we inhale, I wish! Unfortunately the main avenue of infection is the nose and throat, so probably not. And with Bronchiectasis, our lungs are compromised, putting at higher risk.

Our family has gone back to mask wearing around others except our very small circle, to avoid even a small chance of infection and protect all the very young children in our lives.

Glad to hear you found the Pari - it is my go-to nebulizer, the first one lasted almost 20 years, now I have a new one.
