Thank you, John. I must say that is a very in-depth article; however, I did skim through it and picked up enough to know I will never have surgery on this toe. It looks to be very complicated and risky. I have talked with my pcp, rheumatologist, an orthopedic surgeon and today a podiatrist. None of them adviseddoing the surgery. The article mentioned weeks, even months in a cast and even possible amputation of the toe. I am now using a silicon spacer to keep the toe in place and it is ok most of the time. Because I have arthritis my ankle is a little stiff and probably is the cause of the pain I sometimes have when walking. The podiatrist mentioned possible infection because some of my medications could cause a wound from an operation to not heal quickly. Think I can just live with it! Thanks again. There surely is not much info on crossover toes. They are about hammer ties and it is not the same thing.
