What's outside of your picture window today?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Nov 25, 2020

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

2 pounds, are you kidding? Just a measly 2 pounds. If I knew I could have some ♥️penuche♥️ I’d lose that overnight. No better motivation than 👀looking👀forward to a, oops I mean some good candy. a piece isnt even a good 👅taste👅
Thats why I keep my 5 pound Hershey bar around.

@jakedduck1 Two pounds is what I gained on my mini-vacation but I was already about 8 pounds over where I had been and would like to be again. It's a constant battle. I do still eat a square of 90% dark chocolate in the morning and one in the evening. I have read that's really good for you so that's my excuse.

My real addiction is, crazy as it sounds, Extra Toasty Cheezits! I hadn't been buying them but I bought a box to bring with us when we went to Maine with our kids and their spouses but it never got opened. I opened it afterward and honestly, once I get started I can't stop so I emptied the box into the kitchen wastebasket and crushed the box. I had to get rid of them. My husband snacks on Goldfish but those are not that tempting to me, much less flavor.

Real goldfish or those icky cracker like things? Real goldfish cant be much worse than those.
Hubby doesn’t sound like a snack food aficionado to me.
I’ve never been that desperate for a treat.
If goldfish & dark chocolate is what you have for goodies I guess I’ll have to bring my own.

Had a pair of rambunctious Blue Jays yesterday - fighting for position on the bird feeder and of course chasing the little guys away. Used to call Blues Jays the mean ones growing up as a kid. One of the few birds that would dive bomb me on my bicycle while delivering newspapers as a teenager.

@jakedduck1 Of course the Goldfish in question are the Pepperidge Farm cheddar ones. My husband and I have different tastes really.

He has plenty of snacks that you would like. He always has a stash of mini whoopie pies, chocolate ice cream, Haagen Daaz ice cream bars, and often something apple - pie or turnovers. Plus, Hershey milk chocolate nuggets, and fortune cookies! He is now 86 and very healthy which is amazing because his diet is deplorable. He has croissants for breakfast every morning. It's very annoying to see what he eats and stays at a good weight and I just think about fattening things and gain. He is of Italian heritage and I swear, it's the Italian genes.

My treat is my dark chocolate squares. No more Extra Toasty cheezits for me.

This is the Rock Spa for ducks who need a morning preening. They each have a special rock on which to perch. Notice the one-leg stances. I love sitting on the bank and watching them get ready for their day.

How cool! I love watching ducks, and observing their "pecking order." How is there river there? We can nearly wade across the Mississippi at the north end of Minneapolis.

As promised, more pics from the garden. I think there are 30 or so varieties of daylilies in bloom right now - the heat doesn't seem to bother them.
The jugs are in memory of my Grandad (they weren't his, though) who with his Dad was a bootlegger during Prohibition - they ran moonshine from Iowa to my Great-Grandma's "ice cream parlor" in St Cloud. We heard lots of colorful stories!
Have a greay day & stay safe from the smoke and heat everyone.

Good morning. Sky is bluer this morning. Re: your River question…..we live on the River. I took this shot at Munsinger on my morning “get up and get going walk.”

@sueinmn Beautiful garden and lilies. We have shrubs in front of the house and somehow a lily was growing there! I never planted it there, I have no idea how it got there. It's not a tiger lily, I think it was pink. The whole thing is gone now, probably eaten by deer.

Gorgeous- We are three very small blocks from a river that feeds into the ocean where we go to the beach by our boat. We used to just go to the beach but it is so overcrowded that residents can't get in.

Now I get it...you mean how high is the river. The pictures are from above the dam. We are below the dam and the river is down considerably. There is little coming over the dam. Now I have it straight.
