What's outside of your picture window today?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Nov 25, 2020

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

😂I understand they’re particularly tasty with a wild rice and spotted owl pâté stuffing. Tee hee

Mmmm...penoche! My grandma made the best, flavored with a choice of maple syrup or real vanilla. Then she would dip the top in chocolate and put a half a pecan on top. I never can get mine to taste like hers even using her recipe.
Good thing I just had dessert

@sueinmn I think I made a big mistake coming over to this discussion. I love penuche and haven't had it in years. Many candy shops have just chocolate, vanilla, and peanut butter fudge these days.
Now I'm craving penuche and here I am, trying to lose my vacation pounds. It's only 2 pounds but for me, that's more than enough.

Penuche frosting on spice cake sounds delicious too.

Penuche?! Well, now I learned something new today. In my grandmother and aunt’s cookbooks it’s spelled Penoche. Of course they were hand written recipes with a fountain pen so maybe the o looks like a u? Or they didn’t know how to spell it! LOL Thank you! I’ll just blame it on auto-correct. 😉

I think it's geographical...my Grandma got the Penuche recipe "down South" and made it with pecans in their travels. Her sister in Chicago called it Penoche and made it with walnuts.
Kind of like the different spellings and filling in kolaches.

My mother also made this. I don't care how she spelled it...it was good.

2 pounds, are you kidding? Just a measly 2 pounds. If I knew I could have some ♥️penuche♥️ I’d lose that overnight. No better motivation than 👀looking👀forward to a, oops I mean some good candy. a piece isnt even a good 👅taste👅
Thats why I keep my 5 pound Hershey bar around.

@artist
Laurie,
“cleaning and all those other menial daily chores”

Such language from a lady! Besides I believe what Phyllis Diller has to say about housework.” “Housework won’t kill you but why take a chance.” and Joan Rivers, “Why bother cleaning the house, in 6 months you have to do it all over again.”

Laurie,
“your diet of candy and cookies would likely mean certain doomsday for me.”

Your assuming I was planning on sharing my most prized possessions or were you going to be sneaky and heist some goodies when I wasn’t
👀 looking👀
It would be hard to have so much good stuff around and know your not supposed to eat it.
Hey Laurie, my phone says I walked over 13 miles the other day. I walk 6000 steps I’m not sure how it arrived at 13 miles. I think it should be around 2.5 miles or thereabouts.

@jakedduck1 Hey Jake, I think your phone is cheating when it tells you've walked 13 miles @ 6000 steps! I need a phone like that! Yesterday, I did one circuit of my hospital ward with a physio Therapist at 300 steps, and then later another ciircuit of my beloved hospital ward with O.T., so, 600 steps in all yesterday. Whooppee!

Had a pair of rambunctious Blue Jays yesterday - fighting for position on the bird feeder and of course chasing the little guys away. Used to call Blues Jays the mean ones growing up as a kid. One of the few birds that would dive bomb me on my bicycle while delivering newspapers as a teenager.
