I experienced sudden hearing loss in my right ear three days ago. I went to urgent care and they said they could not see a physical blockage or wax or anything. They suggested Sudafed. The problem has not changed. I noticed before that an increase in humidity seemed to affect my hearing. What do I do now?

Oh how horrible... must be very frightening. I have had inner ear issues for months and losing hearing in one or both ears is always on my mind. Sudafed? For hearing loss, am curious to read what other posters have to say who have experiences this.... is your hearing back in that ear yet? J.

@coppermoon Sudden hearing loss requires immediate attention. Please see an ENT (Ear, Nose, Throat) doctor right away. Steroids can help, but they have to used soon after onset.

You should see an ENT specialist as soon as possible. Sudden hearing loss is nothing to push aside. Sometimes steroids can help bring hearing back if they are given within a few days of the sudden onset. Urgent care is wonderful for many things, but the medical professionals working in urgent care have very basic knowledge of hearing loss.

You need to see an ENT as soon as possible.
