@kaswick2- Good morning. I see your frustration and understand how very frustrating it is when it's so difficult to find answers, especially when it concerns our health. I can see it in each of your words. Results are so different for each person it would be impossible to handle all side effects from everyone who asked us to report problems.
When there is a problem that you experience first hand it is always a good idea to report it immediately to people who can help. A first-person report is always better than going through a second person as stories change and stories are passed from person to person.
I'm not quite sure who you mean as "monitors". If you mean Mentors and Moderators then we can only encourage you to report side effects to the appropriate organization. Mentors on Connect have all started by looking for help for something, "we were not born being mentors" lol. So we are first patients, peers, your next-door neighbor who you sit down with over a glass of wine or cup of coffee and just rap about what is wrong. It's a give and take, and give connection with people who know just how you feel and what you are talking about. We help people connect with others who have the same questions, problems, or experiences.
This community is based on an honor system for privacy, even if it is a public forum. To make sure that this stays this way it is up to everyone to handle problems, reports, and appointments for themselves.
Does this make sense?
Hi Kaswick2 how are you at the moment? A family member is having a similar problem with iron levels.
Hello I'd like to address the issue of the monitors reporting. That is not the role of Mayo Connect. We are a peer to peer support group for people with a wide variety of health issues and concerns. Our goal is to connect people so they can share their experiences with one another in hopes of helping each other. We are not medical professionals and cannot make diagnosis or offer treatment plans.
The roles of volunteer mentors and professional moderators are to help people use the group to their best advantage and make sure Connect guidelines are understood.
Members are anonymous, known only by their screen name and such information as they choose to share, so there would be no way to provide research grade data for any reporting. For this reason, if you feel that an issue like low hemoglobin or ferritin is the result of a Covid vaccine, you should report it in VAERS. All events are enumerated and those with the most serious consequences or frequency are studied further by research teams across the country. I'm on my phone so I don't have the link handy.
