i had an ileostomy in march for a blocked intestine. i am having a very hard time staying hydrated and keep ending up in the hospital. i too cannot find anywhere to talk about my problem but sure would like some input. going to try banatrol plus.
@neugie, we know that staying hydrated is critical following an ileostomy and are sorry you are having difficulties with that aspect of the journey. My husband has given up golf until cooler weather here in central Florida because it just is not possible to take in enough fluid in 90 degree weather. He has found that drinking Gatorade cut about 50% with ice or water works best for him. He keeps a glass sitting around all the time and sips on it all through the day. He was told he should consume 80 ounces of fluid each day. We are not familiar with the Banatrol product you mentioned but will look into it. Best of luck and keep us up to date with what works for you. We’re all in this together.
Danon Light Fit is a flavored yogurt that I found has the lowest sugar content. There also a variety of plan yogurts too. I also found that eating pasta tends to slow things down too.

i already sip on Gatorade zero day and night every 15 to 20 minutes. straight water goes right through me for some reason. i found pedialyte without sugar on amazon but i won't get it till 7-19. i'll let you know if it works any better. banatrol plus is a thickening agent with a probiotic and works a lot like eating a banana. it comes in powder form that you mix with pudding or apple sauce and tastes good. i don't dilute the Gatorade. my doctor suggested i increase my meds and that i might need to eat more. sometimes all i get down is a small piece of fish cause it's so hard to swallow with dry mouth. a friend suggested a dry mouth rinse and i'm going to try that too and will give an update. thanks for your input. it helps.

I had rectal pressure/discomfort prior to my surgery (LAR) and after surgery the pressure has continued. Some days it’s worse than others. I also have a temporary colostomy but it still feels like I need to go #2. Dr said it’s normal.
I’m T2N1a (I guess that’s stage III although my Dr said they don’t use the stage so much). I meet with the Oncologist on 7/19 to determine chemo & radiation regiments.
I apologize but I am completely unfamiliar with the medical terms you have used.
LAR = Low anterior resection is a surgery that's done to treat rectal cancer.
Does T2N1a refer to breast cancer?
I hope these problems have been resolved by now.
all are welcome
i couldn't find any yogurt without sugar. what brand name do you eat ? i have not had any pain.
