Hi @karmamamma so glad to hear your liver is doing well. It's good that you are seeking to be more active even before you have the replacement.
I'd like to introduce you to @contentandwell. Perhaps they can shed some insight on your situation.
Have you met with an orthopedic surgeon yet?

Hi Amanda
Thanks for your response yes I have chosen s wonderful orthopedic surgeon at Mayo Jax I met with her snd she made me feel comfortable snd very confident In her abilities. I know I need to start working on some muscle groups to aid with healing now. Thanks I am looking forward to reading about others experiences.

Hi, @karmamamma Congratulations on your recent transplant and I'm happy to hear you are doing well.

I have never had a hip replacement but I did have a knee replacement after my transplant. I was actually scheduled to have it prior to transplant but at that point my platelets were low and the reason had not been diagnosed yet. Then I had to wait until after transplant.

I was told I could have the TKR after six months but I chose to delay it further. Even though I was only in the hospital for 6 nights with my transplant I had been in a few times prior with HE episodes, a few days each time, so I was just really sick of hospitals and didn't want to think of another hospital stay.

I had the knee replacement and all went well, just about a year after my transplant.

If there is anything you can do to get more fit prior to the THR, then do it. It really does help with recuperation. I had been getting a lot of exercise so that gave me a lot of help.
