What's outside of your picture window today?

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

A couple ideas when for when you download your pics and have failed attempts.
You have it figured out enough to post. So when you try again, wait until you see the green check mark ✅ on top of your photo once it’s downloaded, showing that it indeed has secured it into the message. Initially it will have a line or bar running through the pic as it downloads. It gradually fills in to all dark grey, then the bar disappears and is replaced briefly with the check mark. After that you can go ahead and post the photo.

Also as you are looking to post a picture, if you end up scrolling and lose the message to add or drag photo here, or if the screen for you photos disappears, you’ll just have to click on Add Photo/Files again as it’s very touchy. Doesn’t like it when you inadvertently move out of that little window.

If you get an X when trying to upload photos, it usually means the photo is too large - more than 5 MB.

@johnbishop. Hello John. Thankyou for your message. I did downsize and save the photo, but it still showed the big "X" on the photo. I also deleted the "heart" symbol showing the pic as a Favorite in case that was the problem.
I think I've followed all proper protocol. I've been successful before. I'll give up for today and try again soon. My phone and I are exhausted right now! Thanks again.

...I misled you by retyping my text a second time after inadvertently losing my first unfinished text in the post regarding pets at my facility! In the first post I had clarified that the residents had their own pets in their own individual suites, not community pets. Laur

Laurie @artist01 Keep trying. You will figure it out. I am hoping to see Spike. Is your file too big? Does it have the right format i.e. the acceptable types of files? When you click on “Add Photo/Files” below your comment it lists acceptable file types and can’t be larger than 5MB. Good luck!

@artist01 if the facility adopts a pet it will be enjoyed by all the residents and so beneficial for everyone. Perhaps make a suggestion at your senior living center.

@avmcbellar. Yes, to all of the above! JPG, 4.64 MB, and even pared down to a smaller size from that. Always waited for the grey line to fill, then big X on the photo every time, no green check mark ever appeared. I've posted photos before, so it's a mystery why so much trouble today, with two separate posts and two separate photo subjects.

@avmcbellar. I know for a fact this facility won't adopt a pet, but when I lived in a different facility five years ago we had a weekly visit by a Care Dog and his handler. The dog was a gentle golden lab and he loved belly rubs, being petted, and being doted upon by the residents. It was wonderful to see him come wagging his tail furiously as he entered our space! "Maybe" my present facility would consider that plan, although that awesome dog and handler are now retired.

Good afternoon @avmcbellar and @artist01, You made my ears perk up with your posts about the benefit of pets. Even Mayo Clinic has a lady who brings therapy dogs to the cancer center every day or so. I can remember the dog's name...."Hannah". Beautifully trained and so loved.

I was in love with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and had 3 of them. Two of them went through AKC therapy dog training and began visiting my Dad and other patients. The other one needed therapy himself as he was a rescue and still frightened.

If I close my eyes I can still see the joy on my Dad's face when I came in with "Roxie". He hadn't spoken in about five years but his smile said it all. Unfortunately, after an hour of being petter rhythmically, "Roxie" would look at me in desperation as if to say......Can we go now."

It may be worth trying again to engage the support of the residents.
