What's outside of your picture window today?

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Nov 25, 2020

As we get ready for the real winter to show up and COVID-19 still playing a major part in our lives I like to spend moments of my day de-stressing about what's going on in the world today. All I have to do is look out the window and observe some of natures beautiful creatures, how they interact and ponder how small it makes my troubles seem. Sometimes I may even get the opportunity to take a photo or two. How about you? Anything going on outside of your window(s) that you want to share?

For those members that have the ability to size your photos before you upload them to the discussion, may I suggest using the following sizes:
– 500 x 335 pixels (landscape)
– 210 x 210 pixels (square)

Placing a baffle below the bird feeders will protect the seeds from the squirels and when some of the seeds fall to the ground as the birds eat then the squirrels will partake. I use this method and it works, I also throw some seeds on the ground below the feeders for the suirrels and also some of the birds like to eat the seeds from the ground. Enjoy the beauty of the world.

This beauty is really a gift. My mother would always remind me of this. Now, as I sit recovering from C-diff I understand this and appreciate the view from my deck more than ever.

@loribmt Aw, Super photos Lori! I wish we had a few squirrels in my neck of the woods. I guess they can be troublesome to some folks, though. Especially bird lovers/feeders?

@loribit agree with @artist01 as to super photos. I would be thankful if I could send you the ones around here. I too see these bushy tailed rodents as tree rats as well. I know they are being squirrels and lazy ones indeed!!! Sapiens have caused this!!! I refuse to contribute to there feeling thus entitled!

@artist01 @ess77 I had to share my little patch of Siberian Irises with you this morning. Seldom have they been this glorious! It’s taken forever for them to become established and spread. Usually there are only 5 or 6 blossoms per year. This is a bright spot after all the devastation with trees toppled by storms this week.

Hi Parus, no no no please don’t send your squirrels here!! LOL. We have way too many varmints already. They do give off the attitude of entitlements for sure, the little stickers!! But being in the woods, there are always checks and balances within the food chain and that little smirk doesn’t last long. 😳

Hi Groupies, @ess77 @artist01 @jakedduck1 and everyone. Well, today I finally was able to get a cool pic of this little Kingfisher in action. It was crazy. She plops into the water, comes up with this fish impaled on her beak!! Earlier she was sitting on the back of the bench smacking a large, wiggling fish against the frame. When it was beaten into submission she flew off!! 😳Nature is incredible!!

Hi John, Barbara (Peach) here. Have not sad hello to you for some time so Hi again. You can see I am feeling sorry for myself again. I think that it does help but not for a long time. One must have some control over it. How do you like that hydroxyvhloriquin? Wow! my fingernails that I have not had for over five years (due to the psoriatic arthritis) are growing back because of this medicine. Yes, I have tried many other ways to heal them with the doctors of course; but this medicine works. One less painful area on my body. Much love to all of us Peach (Barbara)

Hi Barbara! @peach414144 -- So happy to hear that the medication is working for you! Another good supplement to take for fingernails and skin health is collagen. My wife and I both had brittle fingernails and it has helped a lot. I mix a couple of teaspoons with my morning coffee as it dissolves easily in any hot or cold liquid and has no real taste.

Here's a couple of birds on cleanup duty under my feeder last month.
