Has anything been mentioned to you about a cochlear implant on that 'dead' ear? In most cases the hearing nerve is not dead, but is not being stimulate due to the cochlea being damaged. A hearing aid on the better ear and a cochlear implant on the other one may be worth looking into.

I had a cochlear implant on my poorer ear 16 years ago. I use both the CI and a hearing aid. They work wonders together for me.

See if there is a cochlear implant center in your area. It's worth checking out.

I would consider it. I haven't been evaluated for CI, but suspect that i wouldn't qualify. I usually don't have problems understanding conversations in quiet environments with my one good ear. My understanding is that if hearing aids could improve my ability to hear in noisy environments suffifiently, then I wouldn't qualify for CI.
