@lotsofpain @kimh and @horselover7216 have mentioned Buscopan (hyoscine butylbromide) in the past. I'm hoping they might have some experience to share with you @artist01.

According to this article from the NHS (https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/buscopan-hyoscine-butylbromide/), buscopan can cause constipation and shouldn't be taken if you "have a bowel blockage - symptoms include severe tummy pain and difficulty pooing, together with feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting)".

Artist, are you taking Buscopan to deal with the cramps and pain? When and how often do you take it?

I don't take buscopan regularly. I take it to help with esophageal spasms. I hope this helps. I have never had an adverse reaction to it.

@colleenyoung Thankyou for responding to my post about Buscopan, Colleen. So far, both @kimh and @horselover7216 have responded, which is helpful and confirms what I've already researched on the medication. My current dose is 3 x 10mg Buscopan per day, together with 1 x 5.8 gram packet of Metamucil and 1/2 dose Lax-a-Day. The doc doesn't want to switch me to a further (3rd) prescription of an antispasmodic within a month, so hopes I can stay the course for now. The Buscopan was prescribed by my
GI while I was in the hospital with severe gastric problems this month. (Including, but not entirely because of, up to 7 or 8 small bm's per day, not necessarily diarrhea), caused by spasms. I will end this post for now, before I mysteriously lose it! Can add more later, if called upon. Laur
