Terri, I am very excited for you....I hope they remain clear your whole life!! Question...I have to start the big 3 this Tuesday (yes, I am scared)...1) did you have side effects from the meds? 2) how many clear sputum samples does your doctor want in order to go off the drugs?
Wonderful!!! Here's to leading us through the forest into the light!
@beatitnow .. Amy, hope you don't mind if I jump in re "how many clear sputum samples does your doctor want in order to go off the drugs?" According to Dr. Aksamit you must have twelve months of consecutive negative sputum cultures to stop antibiotic treatment. Hope this helps your understanding. Hugs! Katherine

Hello. I did not take the BIG 3 antibiotics you all are taking. I am on a
bi-monthly cycle of 28 days on tobramycin (inhaled antibiotic with nebulizer)
then 10 days off, then 10 days on cipro, then 10 days off, then back on
tobramycin. Not sure if this regimen is lifelong as a profilactic or what. I am
also in a different situation than the rest of you. I may be needing a lung
transplant in the up-coming year and I may not have time on my side to
take the three drug regimen. And you cannot be infected at the time of surgery
or it can disseminate. (spread throughout your body)

So happy for you!Terri.
