What's your experience with Vertiflex Superion Implant?

Posted by esperanza22 @esperanza22, Jul 27, 2020

Has anyone had the Veriflex Superion implant. I had it and it did not seem to work for me. Would appreciate any one that has information. Thanks

@ftco

It is encouraging to hear that one can continue to have a near normal life, even with the restrictions, following Veriflex I have an appointment with my pain doctor next month to discuss in more detail the procedure. If I decide to haved it, I will probably schedule the procedure for this fall. I don't want to miss a summer of golf.

I don't blame you. I should have asked more questions before having the surgery. I would have waited till fall as well.

I had the procedure 24 days ago. So far so good. I needed relief from very bad pain at L4-L5. Procedure is quick. They aren't kidding when they say 6-8 weeks of limited bending or weight carrying. Be prepared to do what they say. I have experienced very substantial pain relief. I carry a cane just in case but I probably don't need it. I walk slowly getting my gait and confidence back a little at a time. Start PT tomorrow. My right leg still goes dead sometimes. I hope that improves. All in all, don't be afraid to get this procedure.

Was this recommended by your Ortho or Pain Dr.? My Ortho, expectedly, was not a fan of this.

I've heard of this implant via web. Sounds wonderful BUT anyone who's actually gotten it on this blog? I need more info.

Sounds great. I am scheduled to get that stimulator put in my back in two weeks. This sounds like a better option. Hope to hear some more real life experience with this.

I am very confused about the issue if this procedure will work with severe stenosis which I have. Some things I read says it is only good for mild to moderate stenosis and other sites along with the pain management Dr. who will be performing the procedure if I decide to have it says it can work for severe stenosis and he has confidence after looking at my MRI believes it will work for me quite well. If anyone on this sight has had it done with being diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis in the Lumbar region please tell me of the success or failure you have had with having the spacers put in. I did have a consultation with a Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in minimal surgical procedures and he says I am to bad for that and would have to go for complete laminectomy screws and all. Which of course is not what I wanted to hear. He said he is not a fan of spacers and doesn't feel they would help my condition but did say it is up to me but I could try them and if they didn't work he could remove them and perform the laminectomy he suggested. I would be willing to go that route of trying the spacers first but don't know how long after the spacer insertion and finding out they didn't work or made my condition worse that they would cover the laminectomy surgery which is a concern for me. So I guess the second question along with my first one above would be if anyone has done the spacers and then had second surgery because they didn't work did your medicare and secondary insurance if you have one pay for it. I wouldn't want to have the spacer procedure done and then find out if they didn't work my insurance would not cover the more invasive surgery if I needed it. Any help in these two questions I have would be greatly appreciated. I just don't know what direction to go in.

Hello. I am thinking of having the Nevro Hf10 stimilator device implanted / due to my severe nerve pain in both feet ( mostly the R). I had L4,5, S1 fusion w decompression 2 yrs ago. I also had severe spondylolisthesis & spinal stenosis. My toes were numb, prior to surgery - also nerve pain in leg.& severe low back pain, although not debilitating.. They are now alive w activity.! 😱 I am taking Lyrica 600mg/day which takes the edge off.
I was wondering if there was anyone out there that has had success w the Nevro HF10 stimulator. Seems I have the start of small fiber neuropathy according to my last EMG. My Orthopaedic dr told me it could take possibly yrs for nerves to grow back..? I am seeing a Pain specialist now who is recommending the device. I am fearful, even tho there is a 7 day trial period where device is worn outside the body. The leads will be in the epidural area for the trial tho.. I also know the FDA just recently approved this device for neuropathy. My back is good, its just the nerve pain in the feet!! Any advice?

Hello @lola1, Welcome to Connect, an online community where patients and caregivers share their experiences, find support and exchange information with others. There is another discussion started by @elsa who was looking into the Nevro HF10 stimulator:

It is good to be cautious and understand the benefits and the risks involved with the procedure. Did your pain specialist discuss the risks with you?
