Looking for a GI doctor recommendation at Mayo, Rochester
Hello,
I'm a 35yo female looking for a Mayo Dr. in Rochester, MN that has experience in binge eating disorder, SIBO, and Celiacs. I'd like them to perform an endoscopy biopsy and review my Genova stool test, NutrEval, and blood work results.
Dr. Crowell's profile looks like a great fit, but then I saw he's in AZ.
Thanks tons!
Gina

I have been having GERD so often that I bumped myself up to 40 mg Nexium twice a day. I have a hiatal hernia, abdominal discomfort, chronic constipation, A GI doctor told me I have IBS and non alcoholic fatty liver with no fibrosis. He wanted to do a Nissan fundoplication on me, and I asked him how many he had performed. The answer was three! I left and never went back. I want to go to Mayo in Rochester to really find out what is going on, and possibly have the linx procedure, so I can go off of the Nexium. Is there anyone in particular that people would recommend for a GI at Mayo Rochester?
Congratulations on this decision, @fighter. I am dealing with the same issues and several more involving gastro. There are other medications and tests and treatments before surgery. I see doctors at Mayo Florida, so I can't recommend a specific doctor, but I am sending you blessings and good wishes for your next steps in this journey. These doctors are the best and are not focused on surgery as a first solution. I've been so impressed with my care.
Blessings, elizabeth
Don’t schedule until you have a recommendation. I took “the first available” and was so disappointed. He ended up recommending Prilosec. And I had just spent 6 months trying to withdraw my body from its after effects. I was delusional thinking just because you are a Mayo Dr you good.
@samiam19 did you explain your history to the doctor you worked with after he recommended Prilosec? If so, what did he share with you with regard to his decision?
Yes he knew my history. I have seen 3 or 4 gastro doctors over the past few years and they all have dismissed my concerns about Nexium and Prilosec. This has really surprised me.
@samiam19 have you requested/tried Prevacid? Also, can you share what side effects you were experiencing from Priolosec?
