Pain pump, I have one, how about one for you?

I suppose I went too far asking about tennis and soccer, but I did wonder about physical activity in general. It sounds like working in the yard and dog walking is within the realm of possibility. And I assume chiropractor and massage are bad ideas because the therapist might disturb the placement of the catheter? Thanks for sharing so generously.

Don't know about massage. I think it can be quite helpful, depending on your situation, as can chiropractor and other such. His pump is the size of a hockey puck, round and placed inside his back under the ribs. Some folks prefer the stomach area, but it seems to be comfortable for him to have it on his right side, back as he sleeps only on his left side partially on the stomach. Those are things to discuss with your doctor and his staff. The catheter runs from the pump at his waist to his neck, cervical vertebrae to the best spot for most relief. This, too, depends on your specific needs.
He goes periodically to the doc office for med replacement or increase/decrease. The pump must be replaced every few years, additional surgery.
hope this info helps.
he has no noticeable pain, unless he hits his side or the dog jumps on it or whatever...
But, remember, he's not active either.
bless you in your investigations and decisions. elizabeth

My pleasure. Glad to hear he is taking charge.
