I'm 75 and have had peripheral neuropathy for more than 40 years. It began with pain in the feet and kept moving slowly upwards over the years. I have tried so many things over the years, but what I finally settled on some years back to combat the pain and tingling was gabapentin and tramadol. Mine was idiopathic, meaning they don't know why I have it. About 10 or so years ago I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, which can make it worse if you don't control your weight and your blood sugars. And exercise. I may no longer be able to exercise, as I have had so many other physical ailments, not related to neuropathy. My neuropathy has now moved up to my thighs and is beginning to affect my hip bone areas. What I need to know is what to expect beyone this. No doctor has told me or can tell me. So if anyone has had it for this long and has experience regarding what to expect, please add some comments. Thanks.

Hi, I have been told at 43 years old that I have full blown peripheral neuropathy and so far for no apparently no reason. I have surgery on monday the 22nd. Hopping they find something that caused this horrable mess. I heard that magnesium helps. Is there any one out there that has trouble or knows any thing about this? Please let me know. thank you!!!

I have peripheral Neuropathy and Tarsal Tunnel, I have some of the symptoms under control, but the balls of my feet and toes. They are always partly numb and hurt. It never goes away and sometime I can't even bend my toes. If I try to stretch my toes up it feels like the bottom of my foot has a rubber band on it and can not stretch. Does anyone have any suggestion? I get shots in the ankles for the tarsal tunnel and that helps the ankle from that pain but does nothing for the balls of my feet or the toes.

Hello all - after 2 years of every test known possible in the medical world as we know it I was diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy in November of 2011. It is much more pronounced in my right foot. I have tried gabapentin and lyrica but my body would not tolerate both medications. My neurologist and GP have me on amiltriptyline - 50mg once daily. It is not helping and my condition is getting worse. Last night was the worst night of my life. I wanted to die. The pain was absolutely excruciating. I am trying ice packs and am now resorting to acupuncture. I also have the condition in my ring finger and pinky of right hand. Can anybody out there help me? I feel very alone and isolated with my pain.

At least that's what I think it is. I'm 82, but I am ready to give up with the pain in my feet and hands. No one seems to know what I should do. I cannot swallow pills, so have to have them crushed. Sleeping almost impossible. Drs. seem to be afraid to give you anything - ready for some info that will help.

Hello, iam a Vietnam vet of 71 years old. I have found on my own that a thero gun applied to my angles in the evening drops the burn and stinging feeling at least 50% for a couple of hours so I can go to sleep. Also a very large of water adds to that. Rob

Rob: thank you for your service. I believe you are referring to a Theragun, on case someone was trying to find what that was.
