Peripheral Neuropathy - Anyone else?

several of our patients have diabetic neuropathy. One of the first things to help and keep it from worsening is to make sure blood sugars are under control. Some of them are on neurontin which helps with pain. Daily foot checks are of utmost importance.

I had breast cancer and had chemothrerapy and the drug Taxol caused me to have peripheral neuropathy. I think the high temperatures and high humidity is making it feel worse.

I am taking lyrica and cymbalta for my neuropathy. My balance is bad and I am now having to use a walker as I have fallen too many times becauise of it.

Hi there, I am 43,and was heathy as a horse, when all of a sudden I have had a broken back, had surgery year later have full blown peripheral neuropathy for apparently no reason! Know Dr. wants to do surgery on my leg remove nerve and do biopsy.Hope they find the reason. I'm on 6 neurontin plus up to 6 oxycodone, and some days it's like I did'nt take a thing.I's so flusterating!!

Has there been any more research toward finding a cure? I sure hope so

With diabetes you need to be very concerned about the increasing symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. This is a first sign that your blood isn't circulating properly. The earlier you get help the better. One of the first steps is keeping your blood sugars within normal range, and eating a proper diet. I know how frustrating that, because I also am diabetic. With some work you can get your sugars stable, and then the neuropathy symptoms might stabilize. In any case you need to follow up with your doc, and be honest about the numbness and how widespread it is.

Where do you feel the pain? What makes it better? Worse? I was in an accident a year ago and have had nerve pain in my right leg eversince. I take lyrica 3/day but am also in the process of trying homeopathy.

I have peripheral neuropathy of an unkown cause. The cold dry air during winter my pain is real bad. I can't even wear a sock.
