Hi Eric - My mother went in for a hip replacement and ended up in total agony. No-one could understand what was happening and the other patients were coming and going and Mum was getting nowhere. It turned out that she had got Golden Staph along with the new hip hence all the pain, agony and not being able to walk without her walker. I'm not saying that is what your mother has but it's something to be considered. My mum's pain was very devilitating and was in her hips, groin and back - sounds very familiar.

Wishing your mum all the best and a speedy recovery.

Thank you! How was it diagnosed and how was it treated?

They diagnosed it after they took the new hip out, cleaned it and put it back in and the symptoms where the same. They then had to remove that hip and put in another new one. It was very tedious and took a real toll on my mum's health as they could not remove the Golden Staph only treat it with antibiotics. They were not able to do the other hip or any other surgery as the Golden Staph would attack any foreign object in her body. It's not a very pleasant thing to end up with and Mum was in pain until she passed. I truly hope that this is not what is wrong with your Mum.
