I’m so sorry you have these issues! It makes my complaints mild. I’ve had issues it seems all my life. People who don’t have no idea how difficult it can be!
@jobarbara I am sorry to hear of so many others having issues as well. 🙁 I was so surprised the barium swallow came back normal because I feel like I can feel the food going all the way down super slow and it is nauseating at times. Have you had one of those yet? @dstb83bb I agree. It is tough to explain to people at times.
Well my gastric emptying study came back and it showed my stomach empties extremely slow. I was told there is nothing you can do for that except eat small meals several times a day. It is always something. I guess all I can do is treat the ulcer and see what happens. How is everyone doing?
Gabigirl26, I just got my post checkup yesterday for my Nissen unwrap. I had been on a liquid diet for approximately 2 weeks. Yesterday was my first day back at eating solid foods. I basically had one meal that I broke into two. When I went to eat the other half of my pancakes and potatoes, the pancakes went down well but the potatoes seem to have gotten stuck. I started belching and all my food came up. Have you experienced this? This was my original problem prior to the wrap. I had my gallbladder removed because of this and then the wrap. My doctor put me on an acid reducer yesterday for 4 weeks when I told him that my pureed meal that I had on Sunday seemed to have a hard time going down. I also experience a lot of bloating after eating. Do you experience that too? As I laid out in my story in February, this all started after my hysterectomy and the wrap just added another dimension to it. I will continue to search for answers to my problem. I really am thankful for all that have been sharing their stories. It lets me know that I am not alone. Keep the faith.
I HAVE BEEN READING THROUGH THE POST’S ON DIGESTIVE HEALTH AND FOUND HELPFUL INFORMATION. ONE THING I HAVE READ IN A FEW OF THE POSTS IS DRINKING FLUIDS. I CANT BECAUSE ITS MY ENEMY DUE TO SURGERY I HAVE HAD. FLUID PUTS A WALL UP NOTHING CAN GET THROUGH LIMIT TO DIFFERENT TIMES OF THE DAY. I HAVE TO USE A LASIX FOR RELEIF. I DO RETAIN FLUID AND NEED HELP TO EMPTY MY BLADDER. THIS AREA OF MY BODY HAS A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS. IF THERE IS ANY ONE OUT THERE THAT MAYBE HAVE SOME ADVICE I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THANKS TERESA
I was going through similar situation with my nissen. Having that done was worse thing I ever had done. Still had reflux but I also had delayed gastric emptying, bloating, hypoglycemia, all from the nissen. I searched and went to a different doctor. On 3/15 I underwent a gastroectomy where they removed 80% of my stomach and reconnected my intestines in a y. Even though it's only been a week and a half I already have relief. I have no reflux, no sugar drops. I now just have to heal
I had bloating and gas all the time after the Nissen. They suspended they damaged the vagus nerve during the Nissen surgery. For me Pepto pills worked best. But Pepto can constipate you if you take too much. Try that or simethicone. It's too early to tell if the new surgery has corrected that.
Gabigirl! I also am having issues. I have pain at times just below middle chest, had my esphogus stretched 11 years ago and have been on omeprazole ever since. Last week had chicken salad that got stuck. Pain in same spot. Seems to feel better when I eat. Going to gastro tomorrow. No issues with swallowing, just that chicken salad, won’t eat chicken until the doctors.
