Hi, I have been fighting H. Pilory infection for the last couple of months and now the infection is now cleared but it has left me with IM and a concerning diagnosis. Current prescription: Sucrafate 1G, Ranitodine 150mg, Omeprazole 40mg, famotadine 40mg.

I am very concern about this since the pain doen’t go away specially after eating. I am also expecting and don’t want to take any meds that could harm the baby. I need help figuring out my choices here to stop the progression of IM and what are other natural ways to restore my health. Here is my diagnosis:

Gastric antral mucosa with intestinal metaplasia, reactive epithelial changes, and mild chronic inflammation.

Thanks for your help.

Is it possible for you to obtain a referral to a nutritionist right away? There are all sorts of diets to follow and supplements to take for gut inflammation but all that may be different if you are pregnant. A nutritionist can be of great help to you in this situation. People usually follow lactose free, low carb, and gluten free diets for inflammation but that may not be feasible for a pregnant woman.

Hello @guthealth, I have similar situation, had before HP but now I don't have it, however last week my gastric biopsy result came: Positive for intestinal metaplasia, but Negative for H pylori, dysplasia and malignancy. The doctor said to repeat the upper GI after 3 years and to have a follow up with him after 6 months. But my question is, why he did not prescribe any treatment for me espcially if this condition my increase my chance to develop a gastric stomach cancer? I did not know how bad it is untill I started to read about. There are many articles about Intestinal Metaplasia but don't know how reliable these resources I am scared now because every time I eat small meal I feel full like the food is going up. Don't know what to do for reverse this. Any help is much appreciated.

So I had a screening colonoscopy today 1st one was at 50 no 60. No polyps at 50 . At 60 2 small ones and one larger one. The 2 smaller ones he taught were ok. The larger one he was going to send to pathology frankly I am a little nervous. Any one have experience in this area and words of wisdom to share with me..

Hi my name is Justin. After reading this post I decided to make an account on here. My Doctor found complete intestinal Metaplasia in my lower stomach and told me I am negative for h.p. He said he romoved it and there’s nothing to worry about. How I should follow up in 3 years. He didn’t put me on anything. I still get dull feelings in my upper left stomach. Also I burp a lot after eating. Still he said it’s fine. How has your experience been? I don’t know if this is a normal for them to tell us basically ignore it? Or are they waiting for it to be come worst? Why didn’t he say complete intestinal Metaplasia is something they don’t treat and it is nothing to worry about? What’s the difference from complete and incomplete?

Hi Justin,
You mean your doctor remove the complete intestinal Metaplasia? My doctor said is not recommended as it will recur again after removing. I have incomplete intestinal Metaplasia in the antrum of the stomach. Anyone also has incomplete kind and what did your doctor do? Thanks
