@reallyrosie, the Q&A sessions are broadcast using Facebook's Live Video feature, which at this time does not automatically add closed captioning to the video. We are investigating the possibility of using a third-party closed captioning tool. Thank you for the suggestion.

Have you seen that we recently opened a new group for people living with hearing loss?

All the more reason to have CC, right?

I'm deaf. Not a person living with hearing loss. Deaf is my way of life. Accomodations like captions and signing make it easier for me to venture into the hearing world. That's why " nothing about me, without me" is something all people who think to help others should consider well before setting up help groups. "Newly deafened" might be a better description. Or "Aging, hearing loss and staying engaged" might be another. "How to be deaf: learning to have your needs met in the hearing world".

Don't offer help before you know what's needed. And to find out, ask a group of deafies....first.

Good luck.

@reallyrosie, I live by the guiding principle of "nothing about me, without me", although I like re-framing in the positive "for me, with me". The Hearing Loss group was established with a global group of people with a wide range of experience of deaf and hearing loss. Deafies definitely included.
I am the first to admit that I know little about navigating the world as a deaf person. That's why I'm learning the most from this discussion. Will you add your thoughts to the d/Deaf discussion?
