After sustaining a spinal cord injury (SCI), therapy consists of stretching, moving the joints, splint use, functional electrical stimulation. Although these therapies may not restore function or permit severely injured nerves to heal, they can help maintain a a flexible upper limb which may benefit from reconstructive surgery to restore function.
