We went to our local supermarket twice the week before last because we were out of meat. We thought that we had been transported to Venezuela or to a third world country. There was no meat, milk, eggs, butter or any other sustainable food to be had. Last week, we were able to buy one chicken. Thank goodness that it was a big one because I have been able to make six days of meals from it. We have a pound of shrimp in the freezer and I should be able to stretch that too. But there still are no eggs. As soon as the store opens at 7 AM, the lines around the store had been forming since 6. By the time we get there, the food is gone. So many people are hoarding!

Nothing wrong on being a vegetarian. That are plenty of veggies and plant based burgers , loafs etc. its healthier

Jane you said, “There was no meat, milk, eggs, butter or any other sustainable food to be had. Last week, we were able to buy one chicken.”

WOW! Not even perfectly sustainable potatoes, butternut squash, lentils, whole wheat pasta, brown rice.

It’s been years since I ate any of those foods you consider sustainable. My total cholesterol typically flirts with 150, blood pressure 115/72.
I figure my body has enough to contend with what with MAC and Bronchiectasis. I want to spare it the known deleterious impact of animal flesh and lactation products.
