Yes, you are correct that it is much more painful for a man than the woman. There is as you know the chance of the scope doing harm. This 83 year old has had sepsis twice within the last four years because of the bladder problems. The pain and other symptoms never stop. Sleeping is a huge problem. The urologists in my area will only take urine tests or use the cystoscopes. There is a urine culture test that can be used for diagnosing and could be done before a cystoscope exam. So why do the doctors not acknowledge this? The doctors here will not sit down with the patient and explain the reason for the exam, etc. I have had the cystoscope exam and am in full knowledge of it's pain. Why a second time?
