Great info! I also follow Dr. Aviv’s advice on Gerd! I bought his book “the acid watcher diet”.
It's a really helpful book - even life-changing!
Yes it is, my Barrett’s esophagus was gone on my last EGD. That’s because of my low acid diet I learned from the book.
Wonderful - and without medication?
I take 40 mg Pantaprazole 30 min before supper. I just had my physical and my blood tests were excellent. I can say that's because of my diet.
For sure!
So glad I found this thread. I was diagnosed with Barrett's esophagus and I have been beside myself not knowing best way to handle diet. Dr Aviv's book makes so much sense and this is going to be my guide. I would be very pleased if my Barrett's could be resolved. I take 40 mg omeprazole in am 30 min before breakfast. Thank you for mentioning the book!
Hello @poppy1946 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. We are so glad you found this discussion as well as well as information that has been helpful in your health journey related to Barrett's esophagus.
Have you started the book yet? If so, what has been most helpful?
I find his chapter on acid triggers very informative. Soda is the #1 enemy.
I have almost finished the book and I have learned that the food I eat has caused inflammation in my throat and esophagus. I always wondered why I had Gerd when I never had heartburn.
