Jake, I also came out of a coma. I believe the brain continues to learn. At first I was in a wheel chair. Walking was impossible with my imbalance. I kept doing exercises and slowly progressed to where now I can walk on even surfaces without any device. For the grass and gravel outdoors I use a quad cane. Have you used physical therapy? It was a great help to me. I tried both home health for physical therapy only and then out patient services. The latter provided more exercises with the equipment available. At each session I began with their stationary bicycle for 10 minutes. I did a weekly session through PT outpatient to continue what I learned at home(otherwise PT was too expensive under Medicare- 80% coverage). At home I use a mini cycle machine everyday. I provide my own chair to cycle with the machine. I believe it is important to strengthen the core and limb muscles to prevent any falls. In the last few weeks diet and routine exercises have made a significant improvement for me. I will continue to increase my exercise duration. The brain can’t learn if it is not challenged. It is never too late. Toni

Dearest Toni, you are an inspiration to me and I'm sure to so many others! Girl, what you've been through is beyond what most go through in life. Kudos to you for your motivation and positive spirit! May God richly bless you! Warmest hugs, Sunnyflower
