sounds in head

Posted by nazleer @nazleer, Dec 15, 2020

I'm hearing sounds in my head constantly. Does anyone experience anything of this sort? If so what do you suggest as a cure?

Are you familiar with the term 'tinnitus'? Tinnitus is often caused by over exposure to loud noise over time, and/or may accompany hearing loss. It presents in a variety of sounds from chirping crickets, to clicking and whistling, etc. Some say they hear repetitive music. Google the term 'ear worm'.

@nazleer, another possibility is called ear worm. I've had this problem for a few years. Songs play in my mind over and over. These are songs I've known pretty much my whole life. It's so annoying. It happens whenever I'm going to sleep at night, taking a nap, or just during a quiet time. I've been trying to find information about and relief from this irritating problem. So far, no success.

@nazleer You are, "hearing sounds in my head constantly," and you are looking for suggestions/cure. In order to connect with the right members and groups, may I ask the background on your situation? Would you tell me a bit more? When did this start? Have you had any recent medical issues that may be a culprit for the, "sound"?

Hello, as the others have said, there are different kinds of sounds - can you describe yours? Also length of time, whether you have hearing loss, if you have started a new medication...

Hi @nazleer any constant sound is annoying. Years ago I was left with tinnitus in one ear when suddenly a loud high pitch sound occurred in the control room at work while I was in the room. The ringing in my ear slowly dissipated to intervals where it would come and go. I hated it because the ringing at first was constant for a couple weeks. I did nothing but deal with the annoying sound. I had no neuro issues up until my brain aneurysm recently. I developed neuropathy from the last surgical repair of my aneurysm. Immediately after my aneurysm, I did experience voices in slow motion, almost like a crying sound in a horror movie. I was never a big fan of horror films so I don’t know where that came from. The voices also came and went about twice a day until they totally disappeared months later. About 8 months into the effects of my aneurysm I took supplements of Lions Mane Mushroom in hopes to improve the muscle weakness and neuropathy I had experienced. At that time the only sound was the ringing in my ear from the control room incident. I was so focused on the neuropathy that I didn’t realize until later that the ringing completely went away after so many years. I was so happy and amazed. I continued with the supplement for another 6 months but saw no significant improvement with the neuropathy or muscle weakness so I stopped taking it. I don’t know definitively if the supplement resolved my tinnitus issue but I am happy to report it has been over a year since stopping and I am still free of hearing any annoying sounds. Hope you find answers. Toni

Hullo Sue, the sounds I hear are constant. I hear them when I pay attention to them. I may have some hearing loss. The sounds are low.

Tinnitus is often a sign of hearing loss. Have you had your hearing checked by an audiologist?

@nazleer you’re welcome. I did my research first. Even phoned a major health supplement company in California. I spoke to a sales representative who had positive remarks about the Lions Mane Mushroom.. Although his company did not offer it, he highly recommended buying through another manufacturer. I found mine on Amazon. I have provided the link for your review. https://www.amazon.com/gp/css/summary/edit.html/ref=dp_iou_view_this_order?ie=UTF8&orderID=112-0370912-5418639#
