Anyone Tried Memantine (Namenda) for Nerve Pain?

Posted by cwallen9 @cwallen9, Dec 10, 2020

My pain pharmacist suggested trying Memantine (Namenda brand name) for nerve pain. It is typically used for dementia, but there have been a few small studies that say it can help nerve pain. I have been on it for about two weeks (two day full dose) without any reduction in pain yet.

@cwallen9, I'm sorry to hear the recommendation by your pain pharmacist to try Memantine (Namenda) doesn't seem to be helping with your pain. From what I've read there have not been enough studies to determine if it is useful in treating neuropathic pain. Here's some information discussing it's use to treat neuropathic pain.

It sounds like you are still searching for something to help with the nerve pain. Have you seen the article @steeldove mentioned in a previous discussion?
