HI, I have experience with kinesiology tape, dating back nearly 20 years to when many thought of it as a fad. It is most successful used in smaller areas, and there are many online videos by PT's using it for specific issues, mostly sports related. For those of us dealing with pain, posture correction, etc who have underlying conditions, it is most effective to see a PT trained in the use – you can find out by asking on the phone if they are trained.

As for hips, using the tape on the spine is typical, with a pattern on the hip to support the specific area. Here are a couple examples
Hip bursitis/arthritis:

Sciatic/buttock pain: https://www.google.com/search?rlz=1C1CHMO_enUS873US874&sxsrf=ALeKk03HUvgAMVh0jC4rmNeZBaI2XoON5Q%3A1606399713147&lei=4ba_X-nNCOWLwbkPwLW9uAk&q=kt%20tape%20sciatica%20gluteus&ved=2ahUKEwipwpOisaDtAhXlRTABHcBaD5cQsKwBKAF6BAgjEAI&biw=1536&bih=722#kpvalbx=_ebe_X9pA1YnBuQ-5p7qoAw12

It truly helps to have help doing this.
