HI Hank, these contractions are brutal. They last a long time. A very long time. Like about 11:00pm until about 10:30 AM this morning. So each time I tried to go back to bed, they started again. I got about 2.5 hours of interrupted sleep. I don't think they use quinine anymore for quite some time. What is a bar of soap meaning? Thanks for asking. Stretching ahead of time doesn't help. Take care and have a nice weekend, Sunny

@sunnyflower Hello! This kind of neuromuscular excitability can easily be tuned down with carbamazepine, or Tegretol CR 200mg. The medicine comes with many downsides, it's one of a kind and acts on the sodium channels which should relax your nerves and muscles. You might end up feeling depressed, tired. Diazepam is another option, but it's habit forming, addictive, can make you more tearful, emotional and passive aggressive. There aren't many options for tetany. There could be an underlying neuropathy triggering the spasms maybe, or compressed nerves, and there are many forms- you can have both btw - esp.sensory motor neuropathy. Neurologists can be hesitant to let you have EMG and ENG tests done, but try convincing them for the ENG because that'll test how quickly your nerves travel to your muscles or something like that and it might require more medicating. It's a tiring, infuriating condition to have and can leave you hopeless with some medical treatments, supplements are usually the safest go to option. Carbamazepine can make a turn for the worse, and not many people find it agreeable at all, especially the extended release version. It should bring you relief though, plenty of it, if the spasms are very bad. Kind Regards,
