Severe rise in blood sugar

Last week I had a big rise in my fasting blood sugar in the morning and couldn't determine the cause. I continued my normal eating and the next day the number was back down, so I don't always know what makes a sudden rise in the morning after fasting. Going from 105 to 142 overnight is puzzling but not something to worry about for a one time event. Dorisena

Home glucose meters are required to be highly accurate, but the requirement is less than 100%, which means that rarely a reading will be inaccurate. Once in a great while I've tested significantly higher than I expected, I've then retested immediately and found the new test result to be significantly lower and in line with what I expected. (Of course we shouldn't just assume the meter is wrong about an unusual test...RETEST if in doubt.)
