Anybody get painful muscle stiffness in feet & calves?
I guess the "stiffness" is caused by muscles being contracted. My doctor Rx: Baclofen 5mg (muscle relaxer); I took 1/2 & it had a very sedative effect; Any other solutions for this "painful stiffness?" Thank you so much 🤨

Erika, Great idea! Thank you 👱♀️
Hello lweave2, I, like most rheumatology patients have pretty significant muscle/joint stiffness and pain that is worse in the mornings. The only thing I know that works, is movement. I am sorry to hear you experience this. Warmest regards, Sunnyflower @erikas
@sunshining Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. You said that your doctor recommended Gabapentin and that it has help regarding cramping. Is it correct to assume you have neuropathy?
No but i get leg cramps from time to time. I have type 2 diabetes
t@jeffrapp, I have memorized that one @jeffrapp. Motion is lotion. It is so true. Sometimes I find myself lying in bed doing puzzles.......after convincing myself that my feet were experiencing a glacier of cold and I didn't want to fall when I got up. Of course, when I got up....wiggled them around a bit, and walked across the shag carpet......they were much better and the dishwasher still needed to be unloaded.
Thanks.....@jefrapp and may you have a safe and protected day.
Chris
@sunshining Did you know there was a diabetes-and-endocrine-problems group? You may enjoy the discussions there as well.

Good morning, @artscaping, I just love the phrase, "motion is lotion." Very clever. I may use that one myself!
@lweave2 @erikas @sunshininsunshining dEven if you are taking oral magnesium, when those cramps and stiffness hit, you need to apply magnesium directly to the painful area. I suggest Dr. Shealy's Biogenics Magnesium Lotion. I've always purchased it at health food stores, but it is now available online. Amazon price is way too high, so Google search for other sources.
Good to know @steeldove. How much do you pay at the health food store and how much lotion in a container? Thanks for the recommendation. Toni
@avmcbellar The lotion comes in both 8 oz and 16 oz. I've paid anywhere from $13.50 to 18.00 for the 8 oz. I've tried the spray too, but didn't find that as useful, as massaging the lotion on the sore place is an extra benefit.
