Why test for neuropathy if there is no cure?
I was diagnosed a little over 2 years ago by my PCP I do have RA and when I would tell my ruhematologist about the pain in my feet he would just blow it off. So went to my PCP and he listened, looked at my blood work from ruhematologist and said it's neuropathy we thought maybe trigged by the biologic I was on at the time. He started me on Gabapentin and at my next ra appt we stopped that biologic and started a different one. Silly me I assumed this would clear up and go away after that. Fast forward to now things have progressed enough that I use a wheelchair when not at home and am on permenant disability now. I read these posts and a lot of you know a whole bunch about your PN but the one common theme I see is there is no fix. Somethings help some with the pain others are just a distraction but bottom line nothing gets better. So why go thru all tests, trouble and money to identify all the details when they don't help?

Fabulous -- now you just fired me up too ... I'll get on it. Peggy
Peripheral-neuropathy is the greatest cause of death in the world, mainly as a result of a fall. Unfortunately it cannot be cured or relieved by any known medications, be they injections , tablets or ointments. However people with our problem virtually persecute our doctors for a solution, and there are a multitude options, that MIGHT JUST HELP? The very wealthy giant pharmaceutical manufacturers of the world continue to pump out hope, to keep the dollars flowing in. These companies finance and or assist education of doctors, Foundations , journalists etc. Highly prestigious universities, and elite research organisations
have now agreed that ii there IS a way to cure, either partly or fully, including pain relief right now. It is by the practice of Neuroplasticity. I have , and believe it also. As an example, I have suffered for years from an itchy back. I have visited many doctors and specialists. The main advice has been expensive ointments etc. The cost to me including pharmacists, doctors, specialists, travel costs me is well over a thousand dollars. Once I researched Neuroplasticity, I was convinced that the brain is plastic, I have committed myself to daily reading and practice of it. Getting back to my itchy back, to my utter dismay after about 3 weeks of practice, it has disappeared completely , and has not cost me a cent. The massive pharmaceutical companies would go broke if all people like us used Neuroplasticity. Medical Practitioners, pharmacy retailer's profits would take a dìve, staff numbers also. The sitation is a bit like the tobacco denial disaster. Look at my previous post to get detail on the books , authored by Dr Norman Doidge, that convinced me.
Congratulations Peggy. The main ingredient is to believe that it will happen, so, get the book shown on screen , and don’t just read it. Study every aspect. You can check with me if you need to discuss. It is no good saying “ yes, that sounds good”, you need to totally understand , and believe with passion. Go for it, best wishes from me, down here in Australia.

Hi Barry, you have talked about this now for a while. Please see my post from yesterday addressed specifically to you:

Your excitement is palpable. But I don't quite get the crux of what exactly it is you are doing, and it isn't clear (to me at least) from that book. I'd really like to know. Simply looking for a little more clarity from you.
In the spirit of learning, best, Hank
Hey, Hank and Barry, with the technological advancements, I am wondering if there are any virtual realty software or games that will fool the brain into helping with neuroplasticity? That would be awesome to use technology to help our bodies overcome neuropathy, muscle weakness, balance, etc.
Apparently there are companies that are investigating VR(virtual reality) therapy for neuropathy. I found one such company. The website is http://www.vrxtherapy.org for more information. I am sure others are looking into the VR based technology.
@avmcbellar, Thanks for sharing this info! Bookmarked the link as it seems like something more to learn about and see how well it works.
@johnbishop I agree. It is exciting and worth looking into. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before.
@johnbishop you’re welcome! Perhaps this pandemic will cause further advancement to be developed to help neuropathy patients since the risk of contracting COVID-19 is much lower by doing VR therapy treatments at home. It gives us hope and another alternative to medicines which I do not like to take.
@avmcbellar Thanks for posting this vrx therapy website. I will definitely be checking it out. I had hypnosis for pain on my mind lately, and this has some similarities. Thanks so much for posting this. We need all the help we can get! Lori Renee
