Hello
You mentioned adhesions in your reply. I had the same surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago. My pain is all on the right side of my abdomen, I’m wondering if it could be adhesions. I have 2 other incisions in the same area. The left side where the sigmoid colon is (or was) is not painful at all.
Did anyone have pain on the right side only after surgery? Mine was done laparoscopically.

Hi I am 10 weeks after I had 18” of my sigmoid colon removed from Diviticlitios. I am too having pain on the right side. Did your pain go away with time? Was curious since we sound the same! Thanks
I had the surgery 4 weeks ago and had the same right side stinging tearing type pain on right side, surgeon told me there are nerves there that affect most people the same so it’s normal and it did go away for me.
It’s definitely a tough surgery but what your feeling is common from what I’m told .
I had a colon resection almost two years ago.
I experienced pain on my right side as well. It was severe at times and really had me worried as it didn’t make sense to me when the sigmoid colon is on the left side.
I never found out why that was but after a month of healing it did resolve. Hope that is the case for you too!
I did get a post surgery stretch wrap that really seemed to help during the healing. I bought it from amazon. Totally worth buying!
Hi, I had surgery last Tuesday and I had pain on my right side as well. I’m wondering about the multiple bm’s. And so far I’m not eating much. My entire sigmoid as well as several inches of my colon was removed last week. Is everyone out there doing well that had surgery recently? I was cut open my surgery wasn’t robotic. I had a colostomy due to diverticulitis. Please let me know how everyone is doing
i had half of sigmoid taken out in march of 2020. robotically. have had nothing but problems ever since.. surgeon said 5-6 staples are still in there.. and that nerves in rt side could have been damaged from bringing it from left side to rt. side to pull it thru the cut.. i will never due robotic surgery ever again.

i had a different situation, my pain was all left side lower, due to diverticulitus. the sigmoid was bad, took it out , i had open surgery with stitches in 2006. my doc was great , i do believe i developed some adhesions over time, which caused my intense pain out of now where 10 years later, from foods i ate. I watch my diet and eat good, lots of water, however the pain sometimes returns. My doc said only one way in and one way out for my digestive system now. I would never do it again or have belly surgery, unless, i was desperate with pain.
