I had astigmatism in 1 eye, but switched from glasses to contacts. After wearing contacts for a year, my eye exam showed that I no longer had astigmatism. Did the contacts reshape the eye? I dont' know. Rie.

My cousin's doctor told her to not let her blood sugar get over 160 each day, but that seems strict to me if you are an active person. She is not as strict on eating as I am and eats Cheerios for breakfast and nothing else. So I am thinking the daily blood sugar high limit should vary with the person. I am an emotional eater at times, and am learning to not do that anymore. I would never endorse high numbers over 200 on a regular basis. A neighbor was in a diabetic coma for days after eating half of a chocolate cake. He lived. Diabetes is not funny. Dorisena
Well, her doctor is not up to date on carbs and commercial food. I read many boxes and there are no cereals to meet my 15 g. per serving, and there is no granola on the market that is reasonable so I make my own and bake it. My son loves it, steals it out of my big bowl and keeps it in his truck. His wife is making him into a nutrition nut but when they got married she could barely cook. He cooked everything, so she got busy and learned. She is obsessed with thinness, so that's her choice. Protein helps you feel good until lunch. Fat slows down the sugar spike after eating. Milk metabolizes slowly, lasts a long time. I used to eat prunes and suck on the seeds to keep from getting hungry. Solved my headaches which were caused by constipation. Success!

That's better! Rome wasn't built in a day! Believe that you can make a difference and that you can change your eating and feel much better. Did I mention that dark chocolate with a low amount of sugar is recommended by some nutritionists because it is an antioxidant and it is among the foods that reduce inflammatory issues. I tried the bitter chocolate and couldn't enjoy it at all. I eat Lindt chocolate with orange pieces in it. They were on sale. Dorisena
I myself only test before meals. That helps me to make an informed decision on what to eat, as I’ve learned how different foods effect my blood sugar.
Additionally I have a problem few other have, in that my internal blood flow is reversed, so it takes longer for my blood sugar to settle. I also test in an alternate site (my legs), so that testing before meals has worked out best for me.
What really matters is your A1c which tells the bigger picture, so your testing should help you on a day-to-day basis toward that goal. But remember that if you stagger when taking readings (before, or after 2 hours, etc) make sure to document when and any unusual circumstances, etc. so your readings will make sense several days later as well.
O.K. I will give you my honest advice. See an opthamologist regularly and take his advice. For the rest of your life. Dorisena
I surely will
