Isolated dissection of the celiac artery is rare. Celiac artery dissection is not the same as, but can be accompanied by celiac artery aneurysm.

@aas, have you been diagnosed with celiac artery dissection? What treatment is being offered?

Hi Colleen, Yes I have been diagnosed with a celiac artery dissection, at the junction of the aorta and the celiac trunk. It was discovered on a ct scan, that I had for other diagnostic reasons. I was referred to a vascular surgeon. At the moment, has advised a bi-annual monitoring of the size. I went for an ultrasound as a follow up in June, but unfortunately they were not able to get a clear image. I’m in the process of scheduling another ct shortly. I’m currently and have been asymptotic.

OK, I’m really new here. I’m a 56 year-old female that was just diagnosed with celiac artery dissection. Treatment is being delayed on that at this time other than cholesterol medication because during the angiogram they found I had a pulmonary embolism in my right lung. I feel lucky to be above ground right now very scared and very confused. I feel blessed they chose to keep me in the hospital and find anything as they kept saying I “did not fit the profile“ but here I am. I have noticed much activity at all brings back the pain and difficulty to breathing. Exactly how rare is this thing? Thank you for any advice anybody has! Blessings
