Hi,
Do you know what your vitamin D level is?
I don’t understand why your doctor wants you to take so much vitamin D. That amount is definitely not needed for the absorption of calcium. Are you taking medications that effect/deplete your vitamin D? 4,000IU is considered the daily maximum dose. I’m curious as to why your doctor wants you to take so much? if your vitamin D is extremely low I could understand it. I took 6000IU for some time then 2,000 once my level reached 60. I take three medications that interfere with vitamin D.
Here is a link from the Mayo Clinic regarding vitamin D,

Best of luck,
Jake

Jake - Thanks for asking - my levels were checked just recently - now at 58, and D3 dose was reduced to 2000iu - they will monitor as it has run the gamut from 25 to 70 as my meds change. When I was on the big 3 plus large doses of NSAIDS, they were falling with every check. Currently only one med can cause absorption issues.
