What's your experience with Vertiflex Superion Implant?

Posted by esperanza22 @esperanza22, Jul 27, 2020

Has anyone had the Veriflex Superion implant. I had it and it did not seem to work for me. Would appreciate any one that has information. Thanks

Dear Hank
Thank you for sending a link. I had the implant and my pain doctor said it moved, so all that I went thru was for nothing. I will read the information.

@esperanza22 Very sorry for this outcome.

It seems these things are very iffy. Is there any way that they can get it to go back into place?
Hope your pain is not too awful. Best to you, Hank

Hi Hank,
I am not taking it out as they said it was not dangerous to leave in. (I hope) I had a cat scan and they found out it moved. Maybe my pain doctor was not expert at doing the procedure, no way to prove it. I work and cannot do another surgery to take it out. I started going to a neurologist and he gave me a nerve test. I have neuropethy (not spelled right) in my leg and spinal stenosis. He gave me Methylprednisolone Tablets 4 mg and it seems to be working for my back and got some shots yesterday. I will keep going to him.
Thank you for caring and helping.
Bless you!!

It is great that he gave you something that helps. Just know (and you may already) that steroids such as prednisone can contribute to osteoporosis, can also lower your immune system as well. Be sure you know the possible side effects. And if possible be searching for some way to wean off them as soon as you are able to. What a crying shame that the thing has moved and is not helping but rather just hurting you more. I am very sorry yo are not able to have them fix it, but then again that would men nother surgery, and surgeries are very risky. Some people develop neuropathy simply from the surgery itself. Hang in there Esperanza, Hank

Hi Hank
Thank you for the information; you are so knowledgeable! I will see him again on Oct 22, and hope he will put me on something else maybe like Gabapentin. He seems to be very reputable so I am hoping for the best. I know it might not be good long term, but it is first time my back does not hurt and buckle over everyday! I am just learning about all the Med's on this site.
I am lucky to have met u on here, as I said you seem to know a lot!
Thanx

Did you get a prescription of prednisolone which you can take daily and refill?

Hi,
I got a six day card and take some everyday. Tomorrow being my sixth day, I am down to one a day. I was there yesterday, and his assistant will let me know what to take next until I see him on Oct 22.
Thank you for your post

My 80 year olds mother had two of these put in 2.5 weeks ago - Vertiflex procedure. She is in a lot of pain and I am so worried about her. I’m not sure if it was just too much for her or what. The pain in her leg is gone, but her lower back now hurts so much she cannot stand straight. Her pain doc who did the procedure is having her go to physical therapy, but I don’t know how that will help. I’m not sure what to think. There is little info out there on the cons/issues of this procedure. If anyone knows of anyone else who is dealing with lots of pain, please post!

I can’t imagine her going to physical therapy at 21/2 weeks she needs some steroids she’s inflamed just like I was after I had that done 6 weeks ago and I’m not out of the woods yet

I think @momsdaughter would benefit from your insights. I hope she returns to read the response from you and others to brainstorm some ideas for her mom. I wish folks who decide to post on Connect would not just do a "one and done" post and not wait for people to interact. I think they do themselves a disservice. Maybe she's just been really busy with her mom and will come back soon. Hope so. Best, Hank
