@davej, what options do your surgeons offer instead of TAVR given your young age?

I am having Tavr this week and I am 66 years old. My heart team has carefully planned for the possibility of when /if this valve were to fail and they believe i will be able to have another valve in valve Tavr procedure

I had my aorta replaced in 2002. I was 53. I had to have a TAVR procedure in 2024 @ 75 years old. I had my first surgery at Cleveland Clinic and flew home on the 4th day. I was lucky the open heart surgery went smoothly and I recovered quickly. They have come a long way. I had my aorta valve repaired in 1985 and recovery was much quicker in 2002. I had complications from the TAVR procedure where I developed an aorta dissection when they removed the filter used to prevent blood clots from going to the brain. I would not hesitate having open heart replacement.
