Whole back and head injury after a terrible fall
I fell on August 1st 2019 from a 6.4' ladder, all away to my whole back. The ladder moved, and projected me on a hard floor. I even heard the crack it did on my back, especially in the middle of my back,After months of doing nothing to even understand or do the tests necessary to diagnose the extent of my injuries, I just learned yesterday - something I knew already because of my weakened legs, the numbness, the fatigue, the pains and my readings here, on Mayo Clinic articles - that I have a spinal cord damage.I am in the UK now because I came as a tourist on October 2019 and hoped to stay a while, but I couldn't go back to the US because of my fall and also because of COVID 19.To make it short, because of lack of test, diagnosis and treatment, I can now hardly walk, stand or do whatever I used to before my fall. In 6 months, I became a true old woman not because of my age, but because of the suffering and lack of treatment. Now I need to know: can something be done, still, or am I going to go worst everyday, as it was my case since my fall, to finally become totally paraplegic, paralyzed, or worse.I say worse because now, I have additional symptoms I never had before: blisters in my skin, some kind of painful pimples, rashes, head pain and confusion, memory loss, terrible fatigue, nervousness. My life has become a nightmare.I want to add that in 2013 I also had a brain aneurysm surgery (no rupture) and since my fall, my head also has problems: pituitary cyst, injury near my clips, CSF or possible hydrocephalus. If anybody had this kind of experience, or some of it, I would love to know what was the outcome.Thank you very much for your kind support, all of you, and hope and which everyone a wonderful recovery.

Lilypaws - I remember you mentioning that surgery. Hope you are doing well, that’s a HUGE fusion. All I can say is I hope you are healing and though you have obvious surgical pain, I hope you have less of the actual preop pain! When I woke up from my jaw joints replacement, I could FEEL the difference right away! Such a delightful relief to know I was hurting from surgery but not from bad jaw joints! This must make sense to others, I hope!
@lilypaws Im glad to hear from you again How did the surgery go for you . Since your home do you have to do any P.T. or just rest right now ? Glad your back .
@ergodesign . I,m so sorry to hear of your pain . I had a L2 fracture but it was from my work and I was in a brace for 3 months then aqua therapy for 9 months. The Dr did tell me this will leave me with both bowel and bladder problems and its been since 05 and it still does not as bad as before . I wish you would have gotten treatment then as you will have a hard time in getting relief it will be a long haul for you but with the suggestions here from Jennifer and the links Colleen gave you you will but it won,t be easy know this . I do wish you well with this endeavor . Let us know how you are doing .
I feel helpless, but I can assure you that I will pray for your healing and remember you in my morning and evening prayers.
@wisco50 It was a tough 9 hour surgery with 3 hours in the recovery. I kept on having low blood pressure, which cause me to almost p pass out. My Hemaglobin was low so I had to have a red blood cell.infusion. I was in the hospital 7 days/ I am very tired and wear a brace. Would you forward this to @lioness. I need to get stronger.
Jeanie Thank you for asking. Jeanie

@wisco50 It was a long 9 hour surgery with 3 hours in recovery. I kept on having low blood pressure which caused me to almost pass out. They discovered that is was the Valium I was taking. My Hemaglobin was low so I had to have a red blood cell infusion. I was in the hospital for 7 days. My surgery was a fusion plus from T-10 to my S-1. My L-4 and 5 was very compressing on nerves. I had a wonderful surgery. I have my good. I think I replied to you twice.
@lilypaws It takes time so don't try to come back right away . Your body went through a lot and will take time to heal inside . So just rest ,do as the Dr said we are all here for you keeping you in our thought and prayers. You just rest and get better . Make sure you get protein into you
It takes time to recover from big surgeries edp as we get older!
As to forwarding, I am so inept at such tekkie stuff, perhaps someone else can figure it out best? Sorry!
Have you talked to someone at the U.S.Embassy about your medical condition?
@ergodesign, I was wondering how you are doing today?
