@trellg132 You are very fortunate to have a doctor so on top of things that he has recognized that you have fatty liver. I obviously didn't and it progressed to cirrhosis before anyone realized it. Even after having some severe symptoms of cirrhosis I was still not diagnosed for almost a year and a half. I had a liver transplant in September 2016.

You need to improve your diet and if you are overweight try to lose some weight. Alcohol can also contribute to fatty liver. I have a friend who was diagnosed with fatty liver and she has really improved her diet and has stopped drinking alcohol. I am surprised that your doctor did not give you some guidelines on dietary changes you should implement. Here is a link to Non-alcoholic fatty liver on the Mayo site. Fatty liver is reversible so as I said, you are very fortunate to still be at the point where it has not progressed.
