@thuts 6818 Welcome to connect We here try to help with what we can . We aren't Dr.s . Can you tell us al little more about your pain. Have you been on any new medications ? do you have any dental problems? Do you have any kind of diseases ? First thing I would think of is a dental problem but we need a little more information . Hope you post again.

I've dealt with this for about 5 months. Np said it was a sinus infection, went through 2 courses of antibiotics. That wasn't it, had a ct scan it came back impacted teeth. Saw a dentist he pulled 3 teeth for no reason and that wasn't it. Went to ent doctor he said my salivary glands were swollen and my jaw joint was inflamed so he threw more antibiotics and Neurotin to the mix...no go, then went to neurologist and said it was tmj but didn't know anything about my glands. I was told to see an orthodontist who specializes in tmj. Well with covid-19 not many offices are open . I can't take it anymore

Hi @thuts6818, I'd like to add my welcome to @lioness'. Thanks for the additional information and with that I'd like to invite @tikigod18 @parus @hazelblumberg @sakota @dawn_giacabazi and @isabee to see if they may have some experiences to share.

In this video, Dr. Jonathan Fillmore, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Mayo Clinic, shares treatment options for temporomandibular joint disorders. This interview originally aired April 28, 2018.

Some practices, like Mayo Clinic, are now opening up and/or offering teleconsults. Might that be a possibility with your doctor?

@colleenyoung Thank you for posting this. I have dealt with jaw problems since my teenage years and I will soon be 69. The clicking noise when I chew used to irritate my husband. I told him it is just the way it is and I cannot stop it. It is horrible to yawn and have your jaw catch in the open position. So far I have avoided the ER.

@fourof5zs It must be really hard. I am so sorry. It sounds like a bad case of TMJ. I don't know where you live, but myself and my daughter sees a dentist at Iowa City U and he is great! I know my son's jaw use to crack, but since we don't have any contact with him I don't know how his is doing. I have trouble chewing and the dentist at Iowa City said there was not too much they can do for it. He may take an x-ray to see if my right jaw has worn down. I have worn a night guard and it made the chewing problem worse. I hope you are better. Blessings, Jeanie

@fourof5zs @lilypaws I also thought TMJ immediately. When I was much younger, in my 20s, I used to have a problem where my jaw would "lock" for a day or two. I could barely open it enough to eat, I had to squish sandwiches down to get them in between my teeth. It happened off and on and eventually just disappeared! I still have no idea what the cause was so I am interested in finding that out if you do.

I haven't had much luck, they definitely said tmj but haven't had any info about my salivary glad. I've been to 4 different doctors already and now they want to see a orthodontist that specializes in tmi, which I can't afford, they've already taken 3 teeth for no reason

@thuts6818 I am so sorry. Do you live close enough to a University that might have a dentist that specializes in TMJ? I wish I could help you. It's not fun to hurt, I know. Blessings to get better.

@lillypaws. Thank you for the blessings. I live in northwest Indiana, any farther North I'd be in lake Michigan. It definitely no fun being in pain 24/7. It's been so bad mentally and physically that I've thought about taking my own life more than I'd like to admit. I'm on disability so I'm also on a fixed budget with many other issues. That's why appreciate your blessings...they help

@lilypaws .. most of the time there is no pain.. just when it catches and won't close. Sometimes I will get a bad headache and then I realize my jaws are out of alignment. When that happens I usually put my fingertips at the jaw joint and move my lower jaw around until I fill a pop and I check my bite and if it doesn't feel right I repeat until it does. Most of the time
I don't feel the alignment off.. I will have a headache much like a migraine. I just have to pay attention to how the headache is as to what is causing it. I tend to have migraine headaches and headaches from a bad neck. I also have Trigeminal neuralgia which can cause jaw pain... feels different than tmj.
