@susanbo2457, I once had a similar bump on the outer part of my gum a year or so after I had a root canal on one of my upper teeth. It turned out to be a small piece of bone that had broken off and was "floating" under the gum. It finally worked it's way close to the surface and broke the skin and I wiggled it out myself. In retrospect I should have went to a doctor/dentist to have them remove it. If the bump feels hard I would have a dentist take a look to see what it may be.
