@sistertwo

We (from MN) are booked to be on a cruise in two weeks to the Mexican Riviera. It hasn't been cancelled yet, but not sure what we should do because of husband's COPD.

Cruise ship horror stories are still out there. One ship is still looking for a port; no one will take them as of last week. The close quarters of a ship make the spread of disease very likely. Best to take the cruise once the world pandemic is done to really enjoy the cruise and ports of call.

DO NOT GO!

@sistertwo There is no way I would go. We had a vacation scheduled in the Caribbean the first week of March but were advised to cancel it by my transplant team. That was before this was declared to be a pandemic and we have travel insurance, but often unless you have the pricey "CFAR" option (cancel for any reason) they will not pay in the case of a pandemic. When we made our plans that was not something we ever thought about it, we were just concerned with evacuating me if I needed medical care.
We still do not know if we will get any of it back but as my husband says, my health (and his) is worth the thousands we will probably lose. If your cruise is that soon I seriously cannot imagine that it will not be canceled.

@merpreb That ship in the picture on your link is HUGE! I don't think I would ever want to go on a cruise on such an enormous ship. Also, as I am sure you have heard by now, the position on masks has been sensibly reversed.

sistertwo........ I personally would not go on a cruise anymore. If he gets sick , they can't deal with those kinds of illnesses so the first port you get too he would have to go there. My cousin had that happened and he ended up down in columbia. Good luck to you and its all your decision........ I just put in my two cents worth.
