Aren't the typical masks in the lobby of a doctor's office not safe?

@macjane that is what I have heard also. you need n95 or better.

Hello @macjane, @heathert, others. The masks you see in a doctor's office serve one purpose -- To keep the person wearing the mask from infecting "others". In a pinch, I guess I would wear it, but we already have a number of N95-type masks, bought in Dec.

I'm sure they are better than nothing. I will use what's available.

@macjane I can't breath when wearing a mask. Anyone else having this difficulty or suggestions.

Wearing any type of mask is better than not wearing one at all! I also wear gloves.

Hello Jane. The 'lobby' type masks you speak of will not keep you from inhaling covid infected air. It can be breathed in through the sides of the mask, and the material does not block viruses. They are designed to block droplets from escaping your mouth during speaking, couching, or sneezing, so that you don't potentially spew the virus out into the air. A face fitting N95 type is best, the ones with the respirator built into the front. I do not go into a store without one.
